MAY CAMPING TRIP TO KETTLE MORAINE SOUTH
A visit to the Kettle Moraine State Forest reveals the natural beauty of the region. More than 22,000 acres of glacial hills, kettles, lakes, prairie restoration sites, pine woods and hardwood forests can be found in the Southern Unit making this facility a popular area for a wide variety of users. Visitors to the forest can camp in one of three family campgrounds, a horse riders camp or one of two group camps, hike, mountain bike, ride a horse, snowmobile or ski on the 160+ miles of trail, swim at one of two beaches, backpack to an overnight shelter on the Ice Age Trail, picnic, fish, hunt, or tour three historic cabin sites. There are also facilities for use by those with disabilities including a cabin in the campground and an accessible nature trail. Visit the Southern Unit, experience the beauty and take advantage of the diversity of facilities it has to offer.
We'll be staying in Pine Woods which is located in the Northern part of Kettle Moraine Southern Unit.

Food: Everyone should bring their own food for all snacks and lunches. Dinner on Friday and Saturday will be something along the lines of hot dogs, brats, burgers, and fajitas. I will also be providing all the food items for breakfast like pancake mix, sausage, bacon and eggs. I will send all final meal details in the pre-trip literature a few days in advance. Please feel free to bring any side dishes, condiments, etc you would like to eat with meals.
ALL beverages including coffee, juice and milk - alcohol and non-alcohol - are BYOB. Also, please bring a mess kit - a wash line will be set up.
Cars: We can have 25 cars at this group site. For carpoolers, please use the comment field to leave the following information:
- Whether you need a ride or can drive
- How many passengers you can take
- What city or neighborhood you will be leaving from on Friday
- What time you can leave on Friday
Individual cars also need a Wisconsin Vehicle sticker ($10 a night or $35 per year, your choice).
Attendance/Waiting List: I am limiting the trip to the first 35 to RSVP and pay. We can have as many tents as we need at the site - in previous years it looked like a little village! No waiting list is available for pre-pay events.
If you would like to join, and the event is full, please "Post a comment" on the Meetup description that says "Waitlist (# of people) - date, time".
Again, I ask the following:
1) This is an adult only event. Please no children/teens.
2) Pets are allowed. Just indicate in your RSVP if you will be bringing a pet.
Please feel free to e-mail me with any questions.
