Walk around Rollins Savanna near CLC in Grayslake

There is a 3.6 mile loop and the chance to do an additional 1.4 mile loop. We need to start at 5:00 sharp and hike at a fast pace to be sure that we get back to the lot before dark. The sign says the park closes at dark so I wouldn't want to get my car locked inside the gates. It is a very flat loop, we may see some deer or sandhill cranes. It's a short enough hike that I don't usually take a pack or water but if you want to take something along you can. I don't think I'll do a dinner afterward but if there is a good enough interest we can talk about it further. The entrance is at the intersection of Washington St and Atkinson Rd, I will have my tan Toyota Corolla. We won't wait past 5:00, if you get there a little late you can catch up to us. I always hike this loop counter clockwise. Here is a link for the park:

There is also an entrance on Drury Lane but we will meet at the lot by Washington and Atkinson. =)

Good hike, saw sandhill cranes, four deer and one had a rack and I think I saw a whooping crane in flight also. I took some pictures and will post them soon.

Oh, just noticed this after the fact. We would be interested in a future hike here.

Gotta love that twilight - wouldn't have moonshine without it! ;)

The sun may go down at 6:05 but it is still light out for twenty minutes to a half hour after that.
