Dawkins will be speaking about his new book, “The Greatest Show on Earth: The Evidence For Evolution” in the Hec Edmundson Pavilion at the University of Washington on Thursday, October 8th at 7:30 pm. Admission is free for this event; no ticket is required. For further information, please contact Michael Amini at [masked]. Dawkins is a world-renowned evolutionary biologist and author. He is a Fellow of the Royal Society and, until recently, held the Charles Simonyi Chair of Public Understanding of Science at Oxford University. His first book, The Selfish Gene, was an instant international bestseller, and has become an established classic work of modern evolutionary biology. He is also the author of The Blind Watchmaker, River Out of Eden, Climbing Mount Improbable, Unweaving the Rainbow, A Devil’s Chaplain, The Ancestor’s Tale, and most recently, The God Delusion.

The Greatest Show on Earth will be published by Ballantine, a part of Transworld in the UK on September 12th, 2009.

Because I'd never gone to one of these things before, I didn't actually recognize the other people from this group who were there, so I didn't get the opportunity to meet them, but I enjoyed going anyway. Mr. Dawkins was charming. I had expected a short talk that was a little more put together, rather than a chapter by chapter reading, but I wasn't disappointed at all.
    •  Enjoyed meeting Dr. Dawkins.
    •  A very actively engaged audience, a very compelling speaker, a subject of great interest - what more could we ask?! It was a good experience to meet and mingle with other like-minded folks and listen to Prof. Dr. Dawkins live. He's just as humorous and humble as his videos portray him. A real treat. And after he signed my book, we gave him a custom tee-shirt and a thank you card, captured on camera.
    •  fun when he started answering questions; a bit boring when he read from his new book

I enjoyed hearing Prof Dawkins speak. It was great to see the man in person.
