We also encourage you to bring canned food items for our year-round Seattle Atheists SeasonLESS Food Drive. We'll donate the food we collect to Family Works and Volunteers of America food banks in the name of Seattle Atheists.

Food banks everywhere are experiencing a sharp decrease in the amount of food available to hungry families. It's time to make sure that giving continues, even AFTER the traditional holiday giving season.

Book Presentation & Discussion

Attorney Linda Patterson will discuss her new book, Hate Thy Neighbor: How the Bible is Misused to Condemn Homosexuality. The book explores each of the six Bible verses that are used by many Christians to condemn homosexuality and explains why they either do not condemn homosexuality at all, or are far too contextually and culturally removed to warrant a modern-day condemnation. The book also exposes the modern myth of biblical "family values," and explains how the Bible has been used to justify the oppression of women and slavery.

All are welcome to attend this event. For more information on the book and the topic, go to www.hatethyneighborbook.com. For more information about this event, please contact Jim Rybock at jrybock@comcast.net.

This event is sponsored by the Humanists of Washington.

Dec 26 7:00 PM

Humanists, agnostics and atheists are welcome. There will be open discussions of wide-ranging topics of general group interest. Scheduled till nine but usually we end around 11 pm.

Coffee, tea and water will be available. Or bring your favorite beverage and snack.

In a comfortable home environment. It's very informal, and we take off our shoes at the apartment door, so bring house slippers or booties if your tootsies might get chilly.

Looking forward to seeing you.

Alexia and Jerry

Directions: Coming south on I405, take exit 10, Coal Creek Parkway. Turn east (go under the freeway) and travel about three miles or so to the single stoplight in downtown Newcastle. At the light (intersection of CCP and Newcastle Way) there is a Safeway on the right, a QFC on the left, a McDonald's and an Arco station. Turn left at that light and start up the slope. The first street is 132nd Place SE. There are several large, white apartment buildings running along 132nd Place SE; this is the Castle Creek Apartments. Take the second driveway to the right into the apartment complex. This driveway is a large "S" and goes up a very steep drive to the back of the apartment buildings. At the top of the steep drive is a parking area; you can park in any uncovered spot. Our building, #3, is the one on your immediate left at the top of the "S" drive. There is an elevated walkway from the parking lot to the top floor of the building.
