We have posted a new poll for members to vote on (please look under the tab MORE and select POLLS). The poll suggests 3 possible topics - from which you are requested to vote on one. The 3 possible topics are outlined in detail below.

For the next workshop - which will take place in the summer (between June and August), we'd like to deviate from our process thus far, and instead of focusing on phases and the "how" in venture creation , focus more on the "what" - and cover one of three possible areas which relate to many new startups that we see as investors. The goal is to educate prospective investors and entrepreneurs on one of these important areas - so they understand - key players, segments, how the eco-system is comprised ,how money flows, key business considerations and so on.

The 3 possible topics as of now are:

1: Enhancing an organization using social media - In this session learn the following:


  • Social media as a business tool - An overview of the many social media tools and services available today for brands (products and companies) , agencies, publishers and consumers
  • How these tools can be used in all aspects of business

  • Recruiting

2: Online revenue generation and monetization strategies - This session will dive into the multiple possible revenue generation opportunities online, their pricing and cost of goods options and pros and cons for each.

  • We'll look at multiple business models and review example businesses -


    • SaaS, Licensing, Subscription, Fremium, by clicks, by events, by time period, by bandwidth, by results and many more
    • Advertising – CPM, CPC, CTR
    • Data
    • Content
    • Affiliate Partnerships, etc.


  • The online advertising eco-system – who makes money and how – ad servers, publishers, advertising agencies, data exchanges, ad networks, and many more – the life cycle of an online or mobile ad through the eco system and how money flows with the ad

3: Data is king but will privacy be it's Achilles heel? - In this session learn why data is so powerful and why one must keep an eye on privacy and understand how it can be your worst enemy.

  • Data has become very valuable but what does that mean to your business?
  • What is allowed offline is different online – what are the privacy laws today and what we can expect in the future?
  • what personal data is currently being tracked and mapped online? What cookie based information can be determined for an online user? How does cookie based targeting work?
  • how does mobile change any of this (location based services – LBS, local tracking and promotion, device data, app/device usage data)
