NYCTSG Annual Voluntary Contributions Campaign

This is a virtual Meetup.  To make an Annual Voluntary Contributions toward NY & CT Snowboard Group subscription fee simply click on "Count me in".  I have set up a Paypal account and you will be lead through the process of sending a contribution.

Meetup.com doesn't charge individuals to create an account, join a Meetup Group, or attend events. That is Meetup is free for members.

Instead, the Meetup Group Organizer is responsible for paying a $20 monthly Meetup Group Subscription Fee. This subscription fee is charge directly to the Organizers credit card. Most Organizers treat the fee like a restaurant tab, sharing it with the Meetup members by setting membership dues or fee at individual Meetups.

NY & CT Snowboard Group does not charge membership dues or Meetup fees at our gatherings like many other groups do. We instead ask that our members make a voluntary contribution toward the cost of the subscription once a year. If you contribute and how much you contribute is up to you. If you are not an active member of the group, it is OK for you to choose not to contribute. In fact, it is OK if, for what ever reason, you choose not to contribute even if you are very active. When we snowboard together or meet for socials no one asked if you paid a voluntary contribution. Voluntary contribution are a personal decision for each person to make individually.

However, we do need money to keep the group on Meetup.com and your contribution helps and if every member contributes something then it is only a small amount for each of us.

We have more then 400 members in our group. If everyone was to make a voluntary contribution, we would need only $1.00 per person to cover the monthly subscription fees. But, unfortunately in the past a lot of people choose not to contribute this means a few of us have to carry the cost so everyone can enjoy the group.

Those that have contributed in the past have donated on average $5. I am grateful to those people that contributed $5, $10, and even $20 last year. Your contribution helps keep the group going for everyone.

The goal is to cover an entire year of monthly subscription fees. If we pay 6-months in advance the subscription fee reduces to $12 per month ($144 per year). So, doing the math, if 144 people Paypal $1 we will have enough for the year.

Please, make a contribution today to keep NY & CT Snowboard Group going for another year.

Thank you.

Peter, your meetup group has saved me a considerable amount of money through the years with information posted, help from members and renting your fabulous Vermont ski house. As an organizer myself I understand how frustrating it can be to try and recover fees for a nonprofit service you are doing for the public. Thank you for creating this group. It has introduced me to the sport and enabled me to make lifelong friendships. Here's $5 towards more years of meetups!

    Note from Shanna Stein:
I don't think I've ever participated in the trips but I love getting the emails and having the options, so here's $2.00. I think its a small price to pay. Shanna ;)

Shanna, I appreciate your contribution and look forward to meeting you at an event some day. Thank You.

Oh... John I want to thank you for your support... the truth is, John has made sizable contributions to both my snowboard and biking group over the years and has been an active participant, posting and leading meetup event. without Johns participation the meetup groups would not be what they are...Thank You, JR.

Ooops....I was wrong. Pete just needs 35% of us to contribute just $1 to the group.
Come on everyone - get your pic on the list on the right side of this page and show your appreciation & support why you joined the group in the 1st place. On the other hand - whatever you do DO NOT click "NO"...I mean seriously - a friggin buck???

But, everyone should not worry about what I get... just ask yourself... what is it worth to me to have the NYCTSB Meetup available... if you joined the group, there must be a reason... and if you still have not left the group... there must be a reason... is that reason worth less the a penny a day... $1 per year... you probably drop more change accidentally and never even notice.

Your organizer's refund policy for NYCTSG Annual Voluntary Contributions Campaign

Additional notes: If you make a contribution greater the $1.00 and the group collects more then the $144 subscription fee (not including the Paypal fee) then you can request a refund of the extra money you contributed. However, Paypal fees will be deducted.

Payments you make go to the organizer, not to Meetup. You must make refund requests to the organizer.

Regardless of the refund policy set by the organizer, Meetup may issue refunds on an organizer's behalf if we determine that Meetup's Payment Policies have been violated.
