RE: [dotnet-120] PowerShell?

Cool  - I’ll check out Console.  Does it work with PowerShell as well or is it just a cmd.exe replacement?

Also have you spent any time or energy thinking about architecting systems to be more amenable to PowerShell?  By that I mean, say, breaking out the messaging layer from your GUi app such that you could send the equivalent messages from a command line?  I have done a bit of that and the payoff in terms of testing and agility is tremendous.

Yes. It finally makes Windows comfortable for a command line addict such as myself. Aside from general navigation, etc, I use it for little scripts to do stuff like this:

  • Register sets of COM DLL's silently.
  • Find a process with a specific DLL loaded and attach windbg to it.
  • Toggle big sets of registry settings.
  • function e($path) {  c:/emacs/bin/emacsclientw.exe $path }
  • Automate some subversion tasks, ie, run "svn add" for all files with the "?" status.

I also recommend this, which gives you a terminal that sucks less than cmd.exe:

Hello All!

Wondering if anyone here has made use of PowerShell at all? I've started seeing some interesting uses of it here at Lab49 as a developer productivity tool (for quick integration testing, automating tasks, code generation, etc etc) and wondered if others have seen or used PowerShell at all?

Regards,
Daniel
