Some of us, had a bit of a security issue getting into the building. The pizza was canceled, but the meetup went on.
Some are using Entity Framework v1 (despite the bad press).
Howard showed a demo using expressions to dynamically build up new queries.
Other recommended looking at dynamic linq
Recommended for anyone doing work with expression trees are the debugger visualisers
Bobby gave an intro to unit testing
He (and I) recommendas theunit testing framework fornew projects.
For mocking, Moq is good for simple scenarios, and Rhino.Mocks for the more complex.
Other testing recommendations:
Advice on how to dodatabase (data warehouse)testing
- Enable constraints
- Clean / filterthe data upstream
- to test cardinality, for each join, add a test where you add a most duplicated row to your test data, check the row count of the result set
- Create a library of input and output datasets
