10th NY Hardware Startup Meetup

Hey guys,

There are startup incubators popping up all over the country to help startups in this space get over some of the challenges of getting a physical product to market. PCH International has just launched a new incubator in San Francisco called Highway1 and they want to tell you all about it at our next meetup. That will be followed with 3 startup pitches, showcasing some of the great work you guys are doing.

Agenda:

6:30 - 7:00pm: arrival, pizza and beer

7:00 - 7:30pm: Aymerik Renard will present Highway 1 and PCH International Accelerator

7:30 - 7:40pm: Greg Marsh from Keyme

7:40 - 7:50pm: Jonathan Cedar from Biolite Stove

7:50 - 8:00pm: Sean Petterson from StrongArm Vest

8:00 - 9:30pm: finish beer and networking

Looking forward to seeing you all there! Also, when you RSVP I will need you to include an email address, as NYC Alley requires it as part of the list for security.

Haytham, I am starting to cover this space for Crain's New York and TheStreet. Give me a shout and lets chat. Also open to any and all cool smart hardware ideas out there. I'm a great way to get the word out.

Hey David - I hear what you're saying. All questions are welcome and the ones you mention are always of general interest. I guess as engineers we sometimes just can't help ourselves with the technical stuff ;-)

Hi Haytham, I couldn't make it. Do you video or meetup minutes to share?

      July 24, 2013

Hey I had something came up that could not join this event. But since I am looking for a developer who has an awesome apps developing skill as well as a good design sense, anyone intreated in it just hit me up.

Sorry to be the nattering nabob, but I was sitting in back of room, and was surprised to hear most of the questions to presenters were about the technicalities of their specific products (does it come in different colors?), instead of how they got started, business model choices, IP rights, obstacles encountered and overcome. I'd vote for more of the latter, or maybe just sit up front next time. : )

Actually, I was sitting up front and never heard anyone ask whether a product came in different colors? Also, from what I can tell, all the products are in MVP/early stages. There's still bound to be a lot more iterations to follow where the business models are likely to shift accordingly. I'd personally be more intrigued by the former as there are plenty of regular startup meetups for the latter.

I hear you. And I'm a lawyer. When the revolution comes, we're gonna go long before the engineers.

High quality crowd. Lots of smart people - good focus - great presentations - great space - need about 30min longer at the end to mingle, but maybe that's just me. Well done! I'll be back!
