This will be the last email I send you in 2013, so I hope it has been a great year for you all and has taken you one step closer to your startup dreams. I for one have been inspired by how this hardware movement has grown, and by the amazing things you guys are coming up with, often with barely any resources except talent and sheer will. I hope you will raise a toast with me this holiday season for a great 2014 for the hardware community in NYC!
As a testament to the growth in this movement, below I include several startup opportunities:
1) Hammerhead, an R/GA Techstars accelerator company which makes accessories for social biking and navigation is looking for an embedded systems and electrical engineer to help them transition from prototype to production. More details on the role here.
2) KeenHome, another R/GA Techstars accelerator company which is looking to disrupt the home automation market, is also looking for an embedded systems and electrical engineer, with expertise in WiFi and ZigBee communications. KeenHome's first product is a smart home air vent which has had a successful crowdfunding campaign. Interested candidates should get in touch with Will McLeod.
3) We are a team of MDs and PhDs building a wearable sensor for kids' health with the support of Cornell University. We are seeking engineering students or graduates to work on the BLE communication between the sensor data and our iPhone and Andriod app. We are also looking for a front-end developer for the app (iPhone or Android). Please contact Emmanuel at email@example.com for more information.
4) Vengo builds and operates small, cloud-based vending machines that combine digital media with point-of-purchase to allow brands to engage and interact with consumers. They presented a few meetups ago. Vengos hang on the wall like a picture frame in premium locations such as New York University, General Assembly and NYC nightlife locations, and sell tech, convenience and snack items. Vengo is looking for 2 positions:
a) Software Engineering - Seeking software engineer skilled in C+ and Objective C to develop interactive kiosk and vending experiences. Must have creativity, strong work ethic, initiative and good collaborative skills.
b) Product Manager Partner - Seeking experienced hardware technology product developer to oversee resource allocation, planning, strategy, roadmap testing and implementation.
Interested candidates should get in touch with Brian Shimmerlink.
Thanks and happy holidays!
