NY Hardware Start-up Message Board › Pitch your prototype competition, connected device accelerator and more!
New York, NY
For those of you who attended, I hope you enjoyed this week's meetup. I thought it was great to get some insights into the design component of product development, and how it has to permeate the whole process from the beginning. If you want to get on the mailing list of IDSA, the design group we teamed up with for the event, you can do so here. It was also an evening of announcements, so here is the follow up:
1) R/GA, a renown design firm and hardware meetup sponsor, has teamed up with Techstars to create a NY based accelerator for connected device startups. The program will provide up to $120k in funding, 3 months of space and mentorship and design services from R/GA. Find out more and apply here, applications due by early October.
2) Our other meetup sponsor, MakeSimply, a company that helps startups get their products manufactured, launched their education program MakeSimplyX, which includes lots of workshops on manufacturing and hardware product development. Find out more here.
3) Consider attending the hardware innovation workshop on September 18th. The agenda is pretty impressive with speakers including Bre Pettis from Makerbot, Scott Miller from Dragon Innovation and Massimo Banzi, co-founder of Arduino. And for meetup folks, there is a $50 discount, if you use discount code HIW50. Also, you have the chance to participate in the Pitch Your Prototype Competition, where 5 finalists will get to battle out on stage for a $5000 prize and incredible exposure. Apply to the competition before August 31st.
Have a good end of Summer!
