Legacy of the Crystal Shard (D&D 3.5) The Sundering Campaign

The Grind. 

Our adventurers' trek continued across the open tundra, onward north to the Reghed Glacier. Fortunately, the 10 hour journey was uneventful until the last hour, when the fury of the Dale blew in from the north like howling banshees. With driving snow and blinding winds providing the perfect cover, the minions of the Frost Maiden struck once again as a yeti and ice troll ambushed the party and quickly slew two surprised tribe members. But the fury of the barbarians, already outraged at the attacks upon their people along with the clever use of a net by the scout to entangle the yeti, the party was quickly victorious. Gathering up the fallen, they trudged on and by midnight, under the cover of a cloudy night sky, and soon stood before the 100 foot glacier face.

Then the Grind began.

Spotted from the very beginning by the Bear Tribe on watch.

The only things in their favor was cover of the cloudy night sky and the gale like updraft that limited the accuracy of the arrows being shot from above. For every step up, two were lost to the slippery ice and loose gravel that permeated the glacial face. Two more tribesman fell to their demise before the rest finally made it up bloodied and bruised. But the accomplishment was cut short, as the shaman was cut down by the last of the Bear tribe guards before being taken out by his companions.

Fortunately, enough Elk tribe barbarians survived and poured into the Evermelt encampment bloodthirsty for vengence. With the druid stabilizng the shaman, the adventurers find themselves a precious few moments to recover as the bellowing challenge of Wolvig Barrundson is heard above the din of battling tribes...

"Find the interlopers! Bring their heads to me and let their lifeless eyes gaze upon the glory of the Ice Maiden for all eternity!"

Legacy of the Crystal Shard is a Dungeons & Dragons Roleplaying Game adventure that can be played using the rules for 3rd Edition (v.3.5), 4th Edition, and the D&D Next playtest.

The people of Icewind Dale have long stood against the perils of the North. For most of these folk, the events that shook the region a hundred years ago are now distant memories. But what was defeated was not destroyed, and the sinister influence of the Crystal Shard, Crenshinibon, has now wormed its way into the very land of Icewind Dale. As evil forces converge on Ten Towns, the people of the North face their greatest trial yet. Fortunately, they won’t have to face it alone.

Legacy of the Crystal Shard allows characters to continue to participate in important events connected to the Sundering and glimpse the future of the Forgotten Realms.
