I have been exploring Buford Hwy restaurants a lot this year since I miss real Asian food in the burbs. Bo Bo Garden has fit the bill and has become one of my favorite Chinese restaurants. It feels like a NY Chinatown place and always has a very large Asian crowd.
I didn't realize how authentic it really was until Kim (my Jersey-girl wife) and I went there with our Foodie friends Edgar and Joane. They spent 3 years living in Hong Kong and they both gave it a big thumbs up. A matter of fact Edgar loved it so much, he hosted a very successful Meetup at Bo Bo's for another group a few weeks later.
Quoting from Edgar's first write up on Bo Bo's " I was transported back to the Hong Kong that I love. Where we ordered fresh steamed fish, stir fried Pea shoots, Pork with green beans and Salt & Pepper Squid. All authentically prepared and served with friendly fast service "
Authentic, friendly and fast service is something us New Yorker's like.
Someone on Yelp said "This is not your neighborhood sweet and sour chicken joint. It's great authentic food. Period. Don't expect an ambiance appropriate for a special date. The food speaks for itself - authentic, flavorful, lively, and affordable."
Lively and affordable! More things that us New Yorker's like...
The plan: we have 2 tables of 10 reserved. We can order family style or individually. Please RSVP with your request.
I can tell you that this is a good restaurant for family style. They always serve generous portions, you get to taste a variety of foods, it's cost effective, and most importantly it's a fun and a social way to dine.
Beer and wine are available at the restaurant, but please run your own tab for it.
Come early and schmooze, but come with a NY state of mind!
Kim and I will be there at 6:00 pm We will order at 6:30 pm.
Looking forward to being around my fellow New Yorker's. I'm sure our conversations will be lively with NY under tones, accents and with many laughs.
note: If you sign up and can't make it, please cancel your RSVP so those on the waiting list can come.
