March Minnewaska Madness - Upper Level Intermediate to Advanced Hike

  • March 30, 2013 · 9:00 AM

For this one you must be someone I have hiked with in the past or someone who is active with a known hiking group. We will do something in the 8-12 range with all the things I know everyone hates. Views, Rock scrambles and waterfalls.

There is an $8.00 fee per vehicle but we can organize a car pool from the new Paltz park n ride if there is interest.

$1.00 Meetup fee for this event

Well behaved dogs are welcome

Will update with additional details as we get closer to the date

Ana, I can drive we can meet at the location suggested by Steve, below carpool off I-84 at Ludingtonville Road (exit 17) - There is a lot 1 min up the road on your left when you make your first right at stop sign) only we need to decide a time. Contact me to work out details. Thanks!

      March 29, 2013

    • Ana

Hi Christina, thank you so much for the offer but that location is rather far, as I come from Tarrytown. Will try to see if I can carpool from a different spot.

Mountain Brauhaus for 4pm reservation. The Gate at Minnewaska does not open until 9AM so my guess is that we will not hit the trail until 9:20 or 9:30. We will start with the Mossy Glenn trail and then we have some choices once we hit Blueberry Run - Will send out e-mail update with phone number before 7PM tomorrow

Hi Patrizia - Can carpool off I-84 at Ludingtonville Road (exit 17) - There is a lot 1 min up the road on your left when you make your first right at stop sign

I am familiar with the lot. Yes, that definitely works for me. Thank you!

Hi Nancy - Since the main gate does not open until 9AM, my guess is that we will not be on the trail until 9:20. I'd like to finish between 3 and 4pm. Going over route options tonight and will try to come up with 2-3 options based on trail availability. There is still snow in this area and temps are expected to warm up heading into the weekend. Dogs must be on a leash not more than 6 feet.

How long is the hike & must dogs be on leashes?

    • Rob

Hi Chris. I can pick you up at the Beacon station at 8:10. We'll be about 45 mins from the trailhead and it's a 9am start so you'd have to take the 6:10 out of GCS (ouch). email me if you're interest.

  • Sandy C

I think the gate opens at 9am, so assuming we'll meet up top thereafter. Any idea of the route?
