Central Park Walk - East to West

  • Jul 11, 2013 · 6:00 PM

I've Never done this so the exact time and overall distance will be whatever we can do within a 2 to 2.5 hour period allowing for weather and/or photo ops.

I'd like to work in the Boat House, Belvedere Castle and perhaps finish at Strawberry Fields.

I am open to suggestions if anyone has a favorite route.

$1.00 fee for this event.

Please bring enough water.

Rain or high threat of rain cancels since I am coming from work

Meeting Point - Entrance to Central Park at 82nd at 5th

Will update with additional details and phone number as well get closer to the date.

I enjoyed the walk...would love to do the northern section sometime. I haven't been that far north in the park

From the many beautiful fountains and bridges and lakes along with Belvedere castle, and Strawberry Fields it was a total visual overload. I saw turtles, squirrels, geese, horses, and the cutest family of raccoons. Then when we left the sun was setting exactly even with the cross street. I would do this again in a heart beat. It may not be hiking breakneck but it certainly was enjoyable. I took many pictures and will post them hopefully in a day or two. Thanks Steve and production crew.

No rain, cooler temps, a nice breeze in spots, and a setting sun. And to top it all off this was either the first or second day where Central Park was closed to weeknight traffic. (Thank you production crew) A special thanks to everyone who attended. I may focus on the northern section next month

Parking - yikes - any type of parking garage is going to be expensive. Also keep in mind that we are not doing a loop so we will be starting on the east - 82nd and fifth and likely ending at or around 72nd and Central Park west. Another option is to park at White Plains station and take metro north to either 125th st and then subway or Grand Central and Subway. I'd probably opt for train as you will hit some form of traffic driving down.

That does sound better. I am 20 minutes from White Plains from work so I will do that. Thanks...

If you're looking for garage parking, go to www.bestparking.com. Enter the location, arrival and departure times and you'll see a map with the cost to park at all the garages in the area.

Steve, I have RSVP'ed yes but I am going to be taking bus from NJ after work so if I do not show up, it means I am stuck in traffic somewhere. If that happens, I may catch up with you or just explore CP on my own.
