4:45pm TIME CHANGE!!

"At Pocantico Hills...where the fine views invite the soul...I have spent many delightful hours, studying the beautiful views, the trees and fine landscape effects of that very interesting section of the Hudson River..." Mr. John D. Contact: Feel free to post a question to the site or send me an email.  I'll send out a group email with my cell number 24 hours ahead of the hike so you can contact me for cancellations and directions.

Terrain: Easy to moderate, mainly rolling hills.

Distance: Something about an hour and a half. Approximately 4 miles.

Pace: Moderate to brisk. Although this is a beginner hike, and nobody gets left behind, we walk at a very brisk pace! Please assess your ability to keep this pace before signing up.

Meeting location: We will meet at the the MAIN Parking lot for the Rockefeller State Park Preserve.

The Parking lot is located on the south side of Route 117 approximately halfway between Route 9A to the East and Route 9 to the West. There are gates and stone walls at the entrance, a large horse-trailer parking lot, a little toll booth, a visitors center and a bathroom building.

Meet on the benches near the restroom.

Latitude:[masked] Longitude: [masked]

Cancellation notices: I will cancel by 3:00pm if the weather looks dicey or if the hiking conditions are not great.

Pets: Friendly, well behaved dogs are welcome. The park requires dogs to be leashed at all times.  It is possible that we will encounter one or more horses with riders or carriages.

Hike Description: The usual...

Liability Waiver: This is a fun and interesting group of people that enjoy hiking and socializing, it is not organized by a professional hiker.

Thanks for the info on parking strategy. Protocol question--I am #2 on waitlist. Is it appropriate to show up with a moderately good chance that others might not, or forgeddaboudit??

Given no reply by time I would have needed to set out for the Preserve, I will not take chance today, but will hike myself locally over here in Rockland County. But I do want guidance, as I bet others who experience waitlisting, as to what is the appropriate protocol....

I decided to start Reno Motorcycle Riders Group because I wanted to be part of a group of people who enjoyed my passion... I was excited and nervous. Our group has grown by leaps and bounds. I never thought it would be this big.
