Beginner Terrain • Intermediate (Fast) Pace

Diner: I need to know if you arfe going out to eat at the start of the hike. We have to call in a reservation before the hike.

Terrain: Easy to moderate, mainly rolling hills.

Distance: 4+ miles **

Time: 1  1/2+ hours**

          **Longer option: After, 1  1/4 hrs group often splits into 2 groups:

             1  1/2hr/4+ mile regular group

             2 hr/5-6 mile longer option group.

             Both groups eat together.

Pace: Moderate to brisk. Although this is a beginner hike, and nobody gets left behind, we walk at a very brisk pace! Please assess your ability to keep this pace before signing up.

Meeting location: We will meet at the the MAIN Parking lot for the Rockefeller State Park Preserve.

The Parking lot is located on the south side of Route 117 approximately halfway between Route 9A to the East and Route 9 to the West. There are gates and stone walls at the entrance, a large horse-trailer parking lot, a little toll booth, a visitors center and a bathroom building.

Pets: Friendly, well behaved dogs are welcome. The park requires dogs to be leashed at all times.  It is possible that we will encounter one or more horses with riders or carriages.

    Tried to take you on a different hike tonight. On the positive side, I achieved that goal. On the negative side, I made a wrong turn that added distance - thanking you and your sore muscles for your understanding. That being said, we never had a chance to break up into 2 groups and we all did a 2 hour push at 3.3+ mph. Electronic distance calculations were 6.25 and 6.5 miles. Let's not break that record - LOL. 8 of us met Margie at Moon River for a bite to eat.
