"At Pocantico Hills...where the fine views invite the soul...I have spent many delightful hours, studying the beautiful views, the trees and fine landscape effects of that very interesting section of the Hudson River..." Mr. John D. Diner: I need to know if you are going out to eat at the start of the hike. We have to call in a reservation before the hike.

Terrain: Easy to moderate carriage trails on rolling hills.

Distance/Time Options:  After, 1  1/4 hrs group often splits into 2 groups (Weather often plays a big part on how the group splits up.):

1  1/2hr/4+ mile earlier out group

or

2 hr/5-6 mile longer option group.

Both groups eat together.

Pace: Moderate to brisk. Although this is a beginner hike, and nobody gets left behind, we walk at a very brisk pace! Please assess your ability to keep this pace before signing up.

Meeting location: We will meet at the the MAIN Parking lot for the Rockefeller State Park Preserve.

The Parking lot is located on the south side of Route 117 approximately halfway between Route 9A to the East and Route 9 to the West. There are gates and stone walls at the entrance, a large horse-trailer parking lot, a little toll booth, a visitors center and a bathroom building.

Meet on the benches near the restroom.

Good to see Mike A again, Sunset from the roof deck of the river grill was excellent. Weather was good, more humid in the woods than the fields, hike changed accordingly. All in all, everything was good in Kansas. We klicked our heels and did 5.8+ miles @ 3 mph with frequent stops to hit the raspberry bushes. :)
