Join us for a discussion of the details behind the designing and making of TREE; a Passive House community in Ithaca. Participants will learn about the Passive House standard inside one of the most interesting case studies to date.

We will take a look at the practical challenges of pursuing and achieving the standard, the costs, the training and the end results. Anyone interested in high-performance green building, should plan to attend.

About the TREE neighborhood:

TREE, the third cohousing neighborhood at EcoVillage at Ithaca, is currently under construction, and the first 7 (out of 40) units will soon be occupied. Of the 40 units, 25 will be houses, with 15 apartments planned within a 4 story "Sustainable Living Center." The goals of this owner-developed project are three-fold: accessibility, affordability and sustainability.

The village is shooting for 21 certified Passive Homes...but right now there are just 7 homes built and 4 under construction. Of the first seven, five homes are planning for certification. All 15 units in the "Sustainable Living Center" are striving for certification.

The speakers for this event will include Noah Demarest and Kendall Carpenter. Both have been involved extensively in the project and have many details to share about the practicalities of building to the Passive House standard.

Please RSVP so we can plan accordingly.
