Lucene/Solr: The Default Search Engine for Hadoop

  • Feb 12, 2014 · 6:30 PM

Over the last 12-18 months there has been a recognition in the Big Data/Hadoop marketplace that while Hadoop makes it possible to process terabytes (or even petabytes!) of data there needs to be a way to access that data in a quick and predictable way that also leverages many of the features users have come to expect from search. Lucene-based search engines appear to be the way to go as the three biggest players in the Big Data space are either using Solr or LucidWorks Search or ElasticSearch which are all based on the Lucene toolkit.

Come join us at our first meeting of 2014 in midtown Manhattan as Paul Doscher, CEO of LucidWorks, hosts a roundtable with some of the biggest Hadoop vendors in the market. After the initial roundtable there will be plenty of time for Q/A. This group will not be afraid to answer your toughest questions!

There will be food.

There will be drinks (afterwards).

Since this is the first meeting of the new year, please let all of your friends and colleagues know about it! I will be posting upcoming meetings in the coming weeks. They will be a mix of highly technical (every other month) and customer case studies aimed at technical project management. Let me know what you think!
