From Academy Award®-winning filmmaker Peter Jackson comes “The Hobbit: An Unexpected Journey,” the first of a trilogy of films adapting the enduringly popular masterpiece The Hobbit, by J.R.R. Tolkien. The adventure follows the journey of title character Bilbo Baggins, who is swept into an epic quest to reclaim the lost Dwarf Kingdom of Erebor from the fearsome dragon Smaug. Approached out of the blue by the wizard Gandalf the Grey, Bilbo finds himself joining a company of thirteen dwarves led by the legendary warrior, Thorin Oakenshield. Their journey will take them into the Wild; through treacherous lands swarming with Goblins and Orcs, deadly Wargs and Sorcerers. Although their goal lies to the East and the wastelands of the Lonely Mountain, first they must escape the goblin tunnels, where Bilbo meets the creature that will change his life forever… Gollum.
Ian McKellen returns as Gandalf the Grey, the character he played in “The Lord of the Rings” Trilogy, with Martin Freeman in the central role of Bilbo Baggins, and Richard Armitage as Thorin Oakenshield. Also reprising their roles from “The Lord of the Rings” in “The Hobbit” Trilogy are: Cate Blanchett as Galadriel; Ian Holm as the elder Bilbo; Christopher Lee as Saruman; Hugo Weaving as Elrond; Elijah Wood as Frodo; and Andy Serkis as Gollum.
Under Jackson’s direction, “The Hobbit” Trilogy has been shot in 3D 48 frames-per-second and will be released in High Frame Rate (HFR) 3D, other 3D formats, IMAX and 2D. Production has taken place at Jackson's own facilities in Miramar, Wellington, and on location around New Zealand.
In theaters December 14.

I went on a journey this evening! It was phenomenal. Loved the bunny sled. That's all I'll say until we all get together to review.

Apologies to all who weren't able to get passes. The offer was on a first come first served basis with an unpublished venue except for those with passes.

Okay, I did my duty. I'm going to see if I can get out of work early to get there sometime between 5pm and 5:30pm. If for some reason there is no line to get in, I'll go get some coffee.

By the way, I have no way of checking ti see how many of the passes were issued. So, the RSVP number here may not be accurate. I know that there is at least one person who downloaded a pass, but did not RSVP here. So, I think there are only 2 spots left.

Looks like you accidentally listed the event twice, and Mary may be in the wrong one! I signed into both, just in case. I sent Mary a text message, hoping she won't miss out on the event.

The duplicate listing has been deleted.

Got my pass! I'm going. Hope others do too.

OK, so I completely misread the form and thought all those fields were required. I think I'll still skip this one just because I bought my opening night ticket weeks ago and don't want to spoil the excitement of that night. I would have liked to see it with this group, though, so I'm a bit torn. Have a wonderful time!

    December 1, 2012

    • Apulia

Well, Chelle. I bet some of us will be going more than once.

      December 1, 2012

    • Chelle

I'll look forward to the next group viewing in that case. :)

I've printed off my pass. I usually have a choir rehearsal that night; but it just happens that the rehearsal was cancelled!

Sadly, I'm already committed to two other viewings and even I think 3 times in two weeks may be too much! Enjoy!

I'm sure there are other members who already have their tickets and won't want to go.

I'll be there in full Timdalf mode!

Thanks for setting this up!! I'm there in full regalia... Bit of a scare when I couldn't print directly the pass from the webpage, but I got it figured out.

Very fine Timdalf! You will look magnificent.
