Cassandra at Netflix, by Christos Kalantzis

About the Event:

This talk will cover what Netflix uses Cassandra for and why. It will also cover its footprint and where we want to take it since Netflix is an active Cassandra contributor. Finally, it will cover how Cassandra is used at Netflix and the tools we use to run it all.

Food and Drinks will be served by Shutterstock.

About the Speaker:

Christos Kalantzis is the Engineering Manager for Cloud Database Engineering at Netflix.

From the Host:

We're hosted this month by Shutterstock, an innovative technology company, operating in more than 150 countries and 20 languages. As a two-sided marketplace, our mission is to connect creative professionals with the best photos, vectors, illustrations and video from thousands of contributors around the world.

Also, we're hiring!

The Shutterstock offices are located on the 21st floor of the Empire State Building, RSVPs close 48 hours prior to the event to enable security to process guests.

Upon arriving, check in at security in the lobby to be given a pass up.  We need full names for security, so if your Meetup name does not have that available it will be difficult to get you upstairs.  Sorry :(

I'll try to get the video up this week. But, I've got a production infrastructure and an 11 month old who might fight for my attentions. :)

Puneet, I will not be attending, you can take my spot if it makes sense.

Doesn't work that way. The RSVP list was submitted to the Empire State Building on Thursday. If you're not on that list, you will not be allowed in. This is why I bumped it up from 100 to 130 RSVPs as I presumed by the time the list was locked a bunch of people would have changed their RSVP and we would have ended up around 100 attendees.

    Okie doke. Two things.

    1) I will be recording the talk.

    2) Those of you whose full names were not in their user names or did not previously reply to my direct emails to you will have your RSVPs removed and your spot will be taken by someone on the waitlist.

    Hello,

Because of Empire State Building security, I need to have full names. Folks whose profile names don't have their full names will have their RSVP changed to no. Later on this week I will do a sweep of attendees.

I started the group because there wasn't any other type of group like this. I've met some great folks in the group who have become close friends and have also met some amazing business owners.
