It was nice to meet a few other people who share the hobby/interest and to hear about how gaming in NYC has worked for them. Thanks to James for showing up with his game ready. I also really enjoyed the Adventure that Tavis, Greg, and Antone brought, it was really fun and I totally encourage them to run it at Gen-Con!

As I said. Next time I'm wearing my AD&D shirt. Nothing like sitting at a bar trying to figue out if that lonely stranger has dice in his pocket or is happy to see you. Also I am bringing Dice and a module. Rolling a "1" is always better with a beer in your hand.

    Joseph on Nov 14, 2007.

Great group. For a newbie like me, they made me feel right at home.

    Adept1 on Oct 28, 2007.

Vicki Breton on Oct 21, 2006.

  • The NYC Dungeons & Dragons Meetup Group

I love this meetup! I no longer have to hide my inner nerd!

    Ambika on Sep 20, 2009.

  • The NYC Dungeons & Dragons Meetup Group

The DMs and players are very accomadating to new players. The rotating DM / Player system keeps things fair and allows for more tables than you normally see at an RPGA meet up. James and all the assistant organizers do a great job of making things run smoothly. If you want to socialize with people I reccomend getting to the meetup 15-20 minutes early, as once 6:45 comes around the games start.

jesse riley on Sep 2, 2009.

  • The NYC Dungeons & Dragons Meetup Group

  • The NYC Dungeons & Dragons Meetup Group

  • The NYC Dungeons & Dragons Meetup Group

The games, the people and location are accessable and I have a good time even when not playing. It's an open and safe environment for anyone. The RSVP rules set up by the organizers are very fair and reward people who show even a little dedication to the group. A great way to meet players and in general good people.

Aww come on! the reason other gamers should join the NYC D&D MG is the very same reason you put gas in a car, ta keep it going!, we all know just how much Love we have for the game and im sure at times it gets upsetting when there is no one else to play with, but here we all can come out and find each other and share each others experience. all gamers know its no fun when your by yourself, even though ive not had the time to make a few of the gatherings im always on the look out to hear from other gamers. (ONE COULD NEVER HAVE TOO MANY GAMMING FRIENDS)

    SIR-Ed on May 15, 2009.

Generally a friendly atmosphere where players and DMs of varying experience levels can come together, an excellent means of finding gamers in the NYC area. 8% chance to encounter "creepy gamer" 50% chance to be playing in a basement

    Erdal T on Dec 8, 2008.

  • The NYC Dungeons & Dragons Meetup Group

Enthusiastic Organizer and Organized Organizer are the two main reasons. Also there's a decent pool of potential players. I just hope that the pool of 3.5 players hasn't dried up with the release of 4th Edition...

    Rick on Nov 3, 2008.

  • The NYC Dungeons & Dragons Meetup Group

This is the place to be if you want to have fun, or if you want to play test a one shot adventure or two to see how it would play out in your own campaign. People are frendly and even if you never played before everyone is willing to help you out, you never alone.

Low stress gaming with a great DM. Want to play a game with someone who takes props so seriously that they have a piece of parchment sealed with wax to pass out? Then show up at the next meet.

  •  From what I see, it's alright. It's realy up to the members to do anything with the service.

    —A former member on Jan 15, 2005.

  •  I still think they have chosen the wrong way to collect fees and that the fee is way too high for the service provided but if there is an organizer willing to take the risk and responsibility,it is still a good way to meet people.

    knitnerd on Jul 20, 2009.

  •  I currently would suggest anyone interested in meeting new people who enjoy and love D&D to join. Everyone present was nice and willing to help others truly understand the game and was there to network and have a good time.
