I'm looking to find a Pathfinder Game so I can test it out for myself. I've played D&D since 1999, I had some good times with 3rd edition and after a few years the sheer volume of tombs that allowed for such diverse character ideas became intoxicating, I loved it. Pretty much anything I could imagine I could make. I've been playing 4th edition for awhile now, and while It is fun, I think I'm starting to get tired of it, the group I play with it largely used to 3rd edition so their concept of Team Work or strategy is very how can i say this.. weak, and 4th edition is all about that. It's been awhile since I've made a 3rd edition character but their are still some ideas I'd like to role play out so I took a gander at the Pazio Pathfinder Core Rule book, and while its largely still the same as 3.5 it has made enough changes that I feel that I could still have my cake and eat it to. One of the reasons why I stopped playing 3.5 is because I got burnt out of trying to make horribly overpowered characters and dealing with other players who did the same, it really took away from some of the finer parts of the game in my opinion but in retrospect at least you felt the power you had was indeed a real power and not a ... well I don't even know how to describe 4e right now. Again I like 4e but with my current group, and the restrictions on the system I feel it doesn't satisfy my creativity enough.
So please if you know of or have a Pathfinder Game, or maybe if you Run a 3.5 game with a really tight restriction on Power Gamers and Broken Character Builds and think you might be running said game for the long run (from whatever level on up to at least the mid to higher levels.) then please send me a message I would be greatly appreciative. I'm available for play Monday and Tuesday(All Day), Friday, Saturday (Morning and Afternoon) Edited by Selvokaz on Jun 30, 2009 8:53 AM |

I'm pretty sure there's a Pathfinder group that meets at Cafe 28 on Thursday evenings. Although their venue location might have changed by now, if you join the Pathfinder_NYC Yahoo group, you should be able to get some current information.

That Pathfinder Group is running Pathfinder society games which are Paizo's version of the "Living" style organized play games. They ARE NOT as of yet using the Pathfinder ruleset, Beta or otherwise. They are still running those adventures using 3.5. |

They're not using the Pathfinder ruleset at all? omg! Thanks for the heads up and correction, Rick. |

I'd like to start running a Pathfinder game using the Beta and some House rules, but I'll probably wait until the full rules come out in August. |

As an FYI, when the full rules come out in August (at Gencon) I believe Pazio's Organized Play Pathfinder Campaign is switching over to their rules. At least that was the plan when I was still playing Pathfinder Society Games a couple of months ago.

I was wondering if any new Pathfinder groups had started up now that the new ruleset is out?

I was wondering if any new Pathfinder groups had started up now that the new ruleset is out? I'm trying to put together a one-shot at the next Meetup. I plan on trying to do a few of these so that I can possibly recruit players for a group outside of the Meetup. Shoot me an message if you're interested, I've got one other person who said that they'll show. Ideally I'm looking for at least 4 warm bodies at the table. |
