To RSVP for this meetup you have to agree to a system where we take turns running games for each other. This is a subgroup of the NYC Meetups where members agree to take turns DM'ing for each other. We keep track of who DM's and who plays and then vote on who we think should DM next for the group based on how many times they have come and played. Click this Link for more description. There are two groups one who meets monthly and one who meets weekly.

If you are new to DM'ing and still want to join you can easily run an adventure from the new Dungeon Delve book. It makes things very easy. The rest of us can choose whatever we want to run, either published or custom made, either one-shot or longer adventure.

I hear two excuses every time I ask people to DM. First one is from new people who are scared to do it or don't know how. That excuse is now invalid because of the existence of the new Dungeon Delve book which makes it so simple anyone who read the player's handbook can do it. The second excuse is that a lot of DM's are the main DM for their friends at home and the meetups are the only place they get to play. Well if everyone took that attitude then there would be no DM's at the meetups at all. If we take turns you'd get to play 6 times for every time you DM. You'd only have to DM once every 6 months which seems very fair, even if you are running something for people at home. If you're a player and don't like a DM, don't worry there will be a different DM to choose from next week.

When RSVP'ing please put a DM's name in your comment to hold a spot.

If you have time, make two characters of different roles so we can attempt to make balanced parties.

Games -as of 6/11- Please RSVP with a DMs name to hold a spot

    That sounds delicious..mmmm..vanilla
  • Posted Jun 29, 2009 4:50 PM
How about you keep the vicious short swaord and I pay to have the basic vanilla +1 transferred to a monk weapon ? ? ?

Had a great time on this adventure, thanks for letting me join. I upgraded to a basic +1 short sword in town, and now there's the +1 vicious short sword. I'm fine with either weapon or if the DM's want to change the vicious to something else that another player can use, or transfer the +1 from the regular sword to another weapon. Just let me know what to add to my sheet.

Phil, that's fine, you can get a staff +2 if everyone is ok with that, 1d6 on crit, no other properties.

I could use the dagger and transfer it to a staff right? If so I could use it I don't have any magic items.

I got a +1 holy symbol, so I'm good. Isn't the +2 dagger an upgrade for the rogue? Thanks for the gold total -- I needed that. Also, does anyone know how much total exp we got? I lost count long ago.
  • Posted Jun 27, 2009 8:46 AM
Couple of things - this is the gold i have listed by encouner since the beginning - 144 + 9 + 6 + 3 + 80 + 10 + 54 + 140 = 446 Total plus 14 SP. Also, did everyone get a magic item? I already have an amulet of Protection +1. The dagger +2 doesn't really fit my character anyway. Someone can always pay to have someone do a transfer enchantment ritual and move the +2 to another weapon.

I am good for Citi. And it closes at 12am.

Just heard from Rich and Ann. He said he has been there before and they are fine with moving to Citigroup. Just have to hear from Nick (which he told me last night he was cool with moving), Phil and of course Michael.

I heard directly from Bassem and he is good with moving to Citigroup this week - so that is three. Also the E, V, 4 & 6 lines stop right "under" the building (according to the MTA Subway map online). Not sure the hours those lines run but it sure seems convenient.

Yeah, I DMed at the Citigroup Atrium last night, and it was a good place to play. People were still playing at 11:20 when I left, and no one was asking them to leave, unlike Cranberry last week. Tables are a bit on the small side, but that's not a fatal problem. I vote we move to Citigroup.

This seems like a no-brainer. Those of who want can bring food and not worry about causing problems. No dietary restriction worries, no "did I spend enough on this overpriced mediocre food to make management happy" concerns, yada, yada, yada. It closes at either 11 or 12 - not sure yet, it seemed like there were conflicting signs. But the Cranberry Cafe closes at 11 anyway. So everyone should post if you rather try the Citigroup building or Cranberry Cafe.

So me and Nick were at the Citigroup Center Public Lobby located at 153 E 53rd St (Lexington and 53rd) this Tuesday night. It was a nice place to play. plenty of space, places to eat nearby for those that want and best of all open to the PUBLIC.

I will be there by 6:30. Also since it's a Friday, I can stay and play as long as we need.

If you guys can make it at 6:30, cool, if not 7:00. The only reason for 6:30 so we can get started earlier please I can put some more challenging encounters for the final session.
