THIS IS NOT AN RPGA MEETUP
To RSVP for this meetup you have to agree to a system where we take turns running games for each other. This is a subgroup of the NYC Meetups where members agree to take turns DM'ing for each other. We keep track of who DM's and who plays and then vote on who we think should DM next for the group based on how many times they have come and played. Click this Link for more description. There are two groups one who meets monthly and one who meets weekly.

If you are new to DM'ing and still want to join you can easily run an adventure from the new Dungeon Delve book. It makes things very easy. The rest of us can choose whatever we want to run, either published or custom made, either one-shot or longer adventure.

I hear two excuses every time I ask people to DM. First one is from new people who are scared to do it or don't know how. That excuse is now invalid because of the existence of the new Dungeon Delve book which makes it so simple anyone who read the player's handbook can do it. The second excuse is that a lot of DM's are the main DM for their friends at home and the meetups are the only place they get to play. Well if everyone took that attitude then there would be no DM's at the meetups at all. If we take turns you'd get to play 6 times for every time you DM. You'd only have to DM once every 6 months which seems very fair, even if you are running something for people at home. If you're a player and don't like a DM, don't worry there will be a different DM to choose from next week.

When RSVP'ing please put a DM's name in your comment to hold a spot.

If you have time, make two characters of different roles so we can attempt to make balanced parties.

Games -as of 6/30- Please RSVP with a DMs name to hold a spot

Talk about this Meetup

James, you are right - the tight cramp quarters (in game) were awful. Michael - thanks for the praise and yes, as far as the lack of roleplaying, you are right. When I got home I fleshed out a little more of what i want to expand on. But at the end of the day this is a grind through enemy lines.

I was at the Citigroup center Tuesday night for the RPGA meetup; they started spraying stuff around that night. The fumes are not normal.

Brad - this is my 4th time there. The first 2 times I do not remember the odors and I don't think I would be forgetting them. I am not sure if the last two times were because of special cleaning project or weekly floor cleanings or maybe something like that. As far as I am concerned the jury is still out on whether that is a normal occurence.

To do The Anagram of Freedom, we need a full table, so let's do the 5th level scenario, The Singer in Dreams insteadA beautiful woman is trapped by magical enchantments in a deep sleep. She communicates only in dreams. The 5th level characters must interpret her dreams, find her, and wake her...but they'll have to get past the wizard who put her to sleep. Bring your own 5th level characters or I'll provide some.

Palama: sorry that you didn't get any players. Maybe we have so few players because of the impending holiday weekend? You can always run something at next week's RPGA meetup -- we're usually desperate for DMs for those.

My bad everyone, the point buy for my game should be 22 points. I incorrectly used the old number which was the 3.5 version. Sorry.

We'll be there with some pregenerated Level 1 characters! I'll bring a battlemat, and if folks can give me a rough idea of what classes/races they intend to play I can bring minis for the PC's as well. Also Rob, if you need me to bring anything, please shoot me an email. Thanks!

    •  The place is pretty bad...toxic odors and chemicals, unfriendly staff, small tables they don't allow you to put together. But beggars can't be choosers. The players were enthusiastic and we got through the scenario in a timely manner.
    •  I thought it was greatly DM'd. There are some bad things in the module that were carried over from 3.5 edition. Like encounters that don't involve all the players (opening the chest). I also hate battles in tight hallways and small rooms.
    •  Rob, I thought you did a nice job as a dm; you were fair, player-friendly, and you made the encounters challenging. I would love to flesh out my character concept by roleplaying him a bit in other encounters. I was getting high off of the fumes, I don't remember the other times I was there being that bad. We are running out of places to play!
    •  Thanks for giving me my D&D fix for the week My ususal games are cancelled because people are out of town.
