D&D Encounters: Murder in Baldur's Gate

So we’re 5 sessions into the approximately 13-session D&D Encounters season, running the adventure Murder in Baldur’s Gate. I’m looking to recruit a handful of potential new players for my group. I’ve already got 5 but not everyone can make it every week so I tend to have only about 3 showing up each week. Ideally, I’d have about 5 regularly.

We're using D&D Next rules, but there' no need to know them in advance, and I can give you a pre-generated character if you like. I've also kept a blog of the story so far: http://mibg-lasala.blogspot.com/

There are three tables running this adventure at the Brooklyn Strategist, and I'm just one of them. It's every Wednesday night at 7pm (until around 11pm).

Gameplay (of any kind, not just D&D) at the Brooklyn Strategist is $10 per 4-hour block (which is what we allot for D&D Encounters nights), or $5 for D&D Encounters for those with membership. (Or $65 for the whole D&D Encounters season.)

How's the campaign shaping up? In need of a corps?

First time in a long time since I've played. Not sure about the DnD Next system, but I've dabbled in 4th edition, a bit.

D&D Next only takes a page or two from 4th Edition...otherwise it's more of a hybrid of all the other editions and streamlined a bit. It's pretty smooth.

Hey Jeff, I'll be there tonight, I was hoping to use an Elf Monk that I threw together last night. He has a "Thug" background so I'm not sure how well that fits with the story. Im open to p

I think that works just fine! Thug means street smarts....and this is an urban adventure with plenty of scuffles on the way.

I can finally make it! Besides the rules outlined in the playtest materials, are there any DM restrictions for our character creation?

Hey, Sam. Great! Do come! Do you intend to put together your own character, then? Just follow the regular guidelines from the August playtest packet—not the new one which released a few days ago. (Including the standard ability score spread, of which 16, 14, 13, 12, 10, 8 are suggested.)

It would also be helpful to read some of the blog so you know what's going on in the cit of Baldur's Gate. Your character will be happening on the scene differently. We'll come up with something.

if I were to join, what level character should I bring?

    September 23, 2013

    • Jeff L.

1st-level, although we're probably about to level everyone up to 2 (periodically the group will just level up, we're not tracking XP for Encounters).

    What Edition are you running?

D&D Next, and specifically, the packet Wizards of the Coast released in August.
