Introduction

I've been playing D&D off and on for 20 years. Was hooked ever since playing the Red Box solo adventure as a 10 yr old. Still play Neverwinter Nights 1 and 2 all the time. I'm trying to make the meetups go smoothly and everyone have a good time.

How long have you been playing D&D? or new to D&D? What edition do you prefer to play? 4th ed., 3.5, other?

around 18 years. We never played with miniatures when I was younger, but I really like the strategy element that comes into play with minis. You just have to work your imagination a little harder to get into the story. Playing 4th ed. exclusively now

What's your Favorite Book? (D&D related or not)

Siddhartha, Ender's Game, Dragonlance Chronicles, Influence by Cialdini, Descartes in 90 minutes, I really liked the Erevis Cale trilogy too. Legend of Huma was one of the all time best Dragonlance books! All books by Bertrand Russell

How often would you prefer to play? monthly, weekly, daily, at night, on weekends

not sure

What's your favorite class to play? Wizards, Fighters, Rogues, Priests etc.

I mainly like wizards because magic is the best part. I enjoy playing rogues also to sneak around in the shadows. Now! in 4th edition I actually enjoy playing a fighter!

Have you ever been the Dungeon Master? Would you like to be a Dungeon Master?

Yes, I used to be DM for a group of friends. I enjoy running classic modules translated to the new rules. I'm a highly strategic DM, but plot and descriptive writing is very important to me. I try to make things challenging and tactically interesting

Simple, easy way to handle surprise rounds

"Putting the players first means not letting one of them abuse a power or ability that ruins the challenge for the rest of them. Reward teamwork but don't let one power-gamer (or rules exploiter) hijack the game."

Great simple easy way to handle surprise rounds

"So I always have difficulty judging the fairness of a surprise round or whether one should even take place. OK Rule 1: the DM is the person who adjudicates the starting position of the players in an encounter...."

HUGE ERRATA they fixed so much broken stuff!

"Yeah I hate that tactic. Also for DMs take note that the other two orbs that accomplish similar things, Orb of Mental Dominion and the Orb of Impenetrable Escape have no extra crit damage...."

"The RPGA events need a special extra level of organization. People need to say they make the event and time. People need to all be in one group on one page so then everyone can see each other and what they're bringing...."
