Data Driven NYC #17

Please join us for our June event.  We have the smaller room on the 28th floor once again, so please RSVP quickly as space is limited (we have the larger room on the 7th floor reserved for the next few months).

Also, due to increased security requirements at the Bloomberg building, there will not be a waiting list, as we need to have the final list of attendees confirmed a week in advance (not much I can do about this, unfortunately).

Our presenters this month:

* Arnab Gupta, CEO, Opera Solutions.  Opera Solutions (www.operasolutions.com, @OperaSolutions) provides Big Data predictive and prescriptive analytics, delivered as an ongoing service, to business, healthcare, and government organizations globally. With approximately 200 machine learning scientists among its 700 employees, Opera Solutions is a global leader in using advanced techniques to extract value from Big Data. Its solutions, software, and services combine science with technology and domain expertise, providing new, Big-Data–fueled pathways to profit and productivity. Opera Solutions is headquartered in Jersey City, NJ, with other offices in North America, Europe, and Asia.

* Michael Flowers, Chief Analytics Officer, New York City.  Michael P. Flowers is New York City's first ever Chief Analytics Officer.  Mr. Flowers leads a team of data scientists in analyzing city data from over 20 city agencies to allocate its resources quickly and efficiently to prevent fire, crime, safety hazards, and unhealthy conditions. Prior to joining the Bloomberg Administration, Mr. Flowers was Counsel to the U.S. Senate Permanent Subcommittee on Investigations for the 110th and 111th Congress, where he led bipartisan investigations into off-shore tax haven abuses; failures in the mortgage-backed securitization market by U.S. investment and commercial banks and government agencies; and deceptive financial transactions by foreign governments.

* Jeremy Bronfman, CEO, Enigma.  By harmonizing and indexing the world’s public data, Enigma empowers professionals to discover hidden facts and connections like never before. Enigma was the winner of recent TechCrunch Disrupt NY 2013 Startup Battlefield.

Schedule? I'd like to hear Michael Flowers speak but am trying to stay at work up until the time I would need to leave in order to do so. If it's going to start with at least an hour of networking/mixing before the presentations, could you let the group know?
