(We're investing a lot of time and effort building a great community here so it's important that we know at least a little bit about our members. Please answer all questions, even if briefly!). #1: Why are you interested in "the business of data"?

I'm personally fond of math and stats and data for its own sake, without other reason or cause. I'm happy to see that it is becoming a big trend and that people are really doubling their efforts to come up with data-based, quantitative measurements to guide their business decisions. I think that businesses who champion this approach will, on average, find more success.

Where do you work (company, institution) or study (school) and what do you do?

At the point of joining this meetup, nowhere. As stated in my intro, I was an exotic equity derivatives trader at Citigroup previously, focusing on US indices most recently, although in the past I had traded exotics on some single name firms as well. "Exotic" covers anything more complicated than a vanilla call or put.

Please confirm your first name and last name (we need to create security badges for the meetups)

I worked on Wall Street for the past 6.5 years out of college. Towards the end of that span I started noticing really exciting things happening outside of finance, especially in the tech world. To that end I resigned my job to explore new things!
