For over 35 years I've been analyzing big data (Arbitron, Pulse, Hooper., Neilson, etc.) and have done studies, predictive analysis and such. Some of my work in media and finance has been taking the numbers, discerning patterns, and turning them into actionable plans. This has varied from format development for radio stations to advising Hedge funds on the advisability to go long or short -- or stay away. My talent (and selling point) has been in being able to take both the analytical and the creative into account to consult and create value. Value as data , data as value, a very important relationship. And, sort of like playing the piano or the drums, numbers - a certain mathematical know-how - and creativity, when mixed for maximum performance, have a very pleasing and valuable outcome.
I've run a consulting firm, Landsman Communications Group (started as Landsman Media in 1974) specializing in media, communications and finance, for almost 40 years. We naturally made the move to using computers and to embracing the web, as big machines crunching big numbers moved to smaller machines capable of local or connected computing evolved. We are also active in digital rights, identity management, and I am a Steward at ID Commons and work with IIW as well. I am located in NYC, and also have an office in beautiful Suffern, NY.
