From Real-time Data to Human-Readable Text

Josh Schwartz, Chief Data Scientist at Chartbeat, will talk through the data pipeline they've built to ingest data from billions of browsing sessions per day, as well as the analytics system that processes this data, computes quantitative facts, and parses those facts into text.

Video, questions and comments on the talk can be found here:

Short description:

Chartbeat began as a realtime analytics company, measuring the second-by-second characteristics of traffic on media websites across the world. Over the past two years, we've bolted an advertising analytics product — capped by a system that takes this stream of quantitative data and automatically outputs paragraphs of human-readable text describing a site's traffic and its ads' performance — onto the back of our original systems. I'll talk through the pipeline we've built to ingest data from billions of browsing sessions per day, as well as the analytics system that processes this data, computes quantitative facts, and parses those facts into text.
