As a startup solo-preneur myself at http://facebook.com/learnosaurus I often run into a lot of things that can be solved by talking them out and bouncing ideas off others. I don't have an official advisory board, and it's often difficult to snag enough dedicated people to show up on a regular basis.
So this is my proposed solution. Come one, come all, founders and partners of startups in NYC that are education-based. We can act as our own "mutual" advisory board and share war-stories about legal, accounting, marketing, government, funding, education, and technology subjects. Eventually, I'd like to try to have a special guest each meeting that isn't an owner, but is in some way related to education, so we can pick that person's brain. A teacher, lawyer, accountant, administrator, whatever.
If you are a founder, partner, or on the team of a small startup, let's say 10 or less people, in NYC or the other boroughs, or a teacher, lawyer, accountant, administrator, educational game designer, v.c. or anything else that would benefit from being part of group discussions amongst the entrepreneur types, please consider joining up. I hope to make these monthly, but we can adjust as necessary.
