FPG Sunday Meetup - Cosi at 23 St on Oct. 7

  • October 7, 2012 · 3:00 PM

Okay gang. Since I made the last FPG meetup hard for most people to get to, I'm making this one easy. Cosi at 23 Street & 6th Avenue in Manhattan has comfy seats, table service, good food and FREE REFILLS on sodas.  There's a couple of new games on the agenda. Games to be played include:

BASS ACKWARDS - the game where the right answer is wrong! A fun team game.

VANITY CHASE - guess who might be the owner of certain license plates - specific and generalized people.

NAME BURST - get your patrner to say the name of the famous person or character on the card. Up to 10 names per round, and you'll be partnered with a DIFFERENT PERSON for each round.

LIKES & GRIPES - state your likes or gripes for a specific topic. The more people you match, the more you move ahead on the board. Elaine liked this game A LOT.

Mlost likely there will be TWO tables of games. The games listed above will be at my table. Ed will have his games at the other. Those arriving early (before 3pm) will have a choice of which table to sit at.

This was my first 'game' meetup, and I had a nice time; thank you for the warm welcome as well. I was pleased to also teach, and play RummyKub, and look forward to teaching, and playing with other people as well.

Played a good game of Automobile Wealth on Wheels or Cars. Game took extra long for 5 people because three of them were learning alot as we went along. However I came in second place with 4400 dollars a $2400 profit. However played rather well & didn't get any budget or economy cars by Rounds 3 or 4 since none were available but did get to sell alot of Middle Class and Luxury Cars & in selling of Luxury Cars was able to sell 3 in Round 2 & 4 in both rounds 3 & 4. Took the roles of Kettering then Super Salesman Howard & Sloan & Kettering again. In Round 4 was able to move Ketterings priviledged saleman from Luxury to Middle Class in that salesman allowed to not be on a reserved spot, since there was a demand on some luxuries that time. Just 1 Salesman loss cube. Was not only able to shut down a middle class of Howard allowed 2 actions in a round in one of the phases, but one in executive decisions as well. Overall a super game of Cars.

It was a nice afternoon as 14 gamers played five games at two tables. At my table, the team of Maggie, Elaine & Joan won Bass Ackwards, Maggie won Name Burst with 30 points. Maggie and Elaine tied for winning Likes & Gripes. Clark came in a very close 2nd. At Ed's table, the Automobile game took VERY long to play. Tony won and Ed was 2nd by fifty dollars. Joan, Barbara and Jaye also played Rummikub.

A few first-timers, including Joan, Michael, Tony, Adrienne, Marshall and Steve, who played Likes & Gripes while waiting for a Monopoly game in that meetup. Leslie also dropped by and played Nameburst with us. The next FPG meetup will be on Saturday, October 20 at Common Ground on Avenue A between 12th & 13th Streets in Manhattan.

The game was long and complicated, but it eventually got fun. Next time I'll go to the shorter game table....

So we've got 14 so far, plus a friend of mine named David may stop by. There will be my games, Ed's games and the Rummikub game that Joan is bringing.

I started the group because there wasn't any other type of group like this. I've met some great folks in the group who have become close friends and have also met some amazing business owners.
