October Book Club - "NOS4A2" by Joe Hill

  • October 24, 2013 · 7:00 PM
  • Argo Tea House

Hi All, the votes are in and it was close: NOS4A2 won by 1 vote.

"NOS4A2" by Joe Hill: This title was released this year and if you didn't know, Joe Hill is Stephen King's son. It should be a good/scary read for October.

Location TBA: We talked about changing the location up from Argo Tea House, let me know if you have any suggestions.

Hi all - just wanted to mention that Joe Hill will be reading at KGB Bar on January 15th. I just suggested a meetup and will definitely be going - I hope others can join! :)

So, who was it that told me about In The Flesh? Because I LOVE it!

So the list of books we talked about for next time is as follows:

    The Golem and the Jinni
    Breathers: A Zombie's Lament
    Never Let Me Go

    (and the classic sci-fi)
    Kurt Vonnegut
    Robert Heinlein
    Alas, Babylon
    A Clockwork Orange
    Phillip K. Dick

A lot to pick from! If anyone has any strong feelings, let me know, and I can set up a meetup for next month (before Thanksgiving).

Thanks for posting the list! ill have a think about my preference but if we could have the meeting after the 19th that would be great! I'm traveling for work for a couple weeks and get back that day.

Just wanted to share that Doctor Sleep referenced Charlie Manx. Perhaps King and Hill books are all going to be in the same universe as well.

    • Sara

Yeah, there were some King references in NOS4A2 as well.

I'm in a similar boat, but I'm planning on binge reading it tonight. I figure if I can do it with Netflix. I can do it with books

Hiii, i put the location to Argo. I checked out the Heartland Brewery last Thursday and it was too loud and rowdy. The host said that is the way it usually is. We wouldn't really be able to have a discussion there. I dont know any places that would be a good option so Argo it is. Totally open to suggestions though!

Hi ladies! Are we still planning on changing the location, or going to Argo as usual this month?

Hi, not yet. I'll close the poll at the end of this week (9/20) and post the results.

Re: places to eat, maybe the Heartland Brewery in Union Sq? It's a restaurant with good brews for the drinkers, and it's convenient for the people that have been coming in from that area.

Voting-wise, I vote for Carrie, but both sound excellent!
