Doctor Who Marathon!

  • Cristin's Apartment

My roommate has this Doctor Who Box with the Series 1-4 from Eccleston to Tennant on DVD and I tough we should take advantage of that!

Unfortunately I cant host this meetup at my place, since is probably all not that comfortable to watch episodes but if a kind person has some space and time on Saturdays I will bring Doctor Who themed food and a Tardis Dress.

ALLONS-Y

Directions to Cristin's Apartment:

You can take the D, 4, 2, or MetroNorth (Harlem line, local train to Williams Bridge). I don't recommend 2 cause it runs local. On Saturdays in NYC you can buy a city ticket for the Harlem line on Metronorth for only $3.75 which is awesome! Look for the option when you buy your ticket.

Ours is the tallest apartment building in the neighborhood by far, you'll see it in the distance. Big red brick building at the top of Gun Hill. It has a giant antenna on the roof so it looks like an evil robot. The doorman will buzz you in.

Our apartment faces Manhattan so our view is phenomenal. Bring your camera. :)

Our neighborhood has been safe the 3 years we've been here, although I recommend leaving in groups when it is dark for your own peace of mind. I walk alone in the dark in our neighborhood without trouble.

Hi Cristing sorry for Saturday, between the trains, the buses and that I wasnt feeling really well it seemed like a mission impossible. I wanted to ask all of you at the meetup if you wanted to repeat this in two weeks? Also I have a friend (guy) from the COED meetup that loved the idea and offer up his house for next time if necessary. What do you think?

You guys can call or text me at[masked]! I look forward to meeting you all tomorrow!

We'll have a lot of snacks and I'm trying to have some Doctor Who themed things. We don't have deserts if you'd like to fill that gap or bring your favorite drink or food.

I dont think I am going to be able to make it. My plan to get out of brooklyn just failed and I am on a line to get a bus. I have no idea how long this is going to take me, sorry!

Shayo made it from Brooklyn via the free shuttle, so maybe it will work? We have netflix if you can't make it with the DVDs but I hope you can!

I can pick something up at a mart. Ideas?

Saw there's a rite aid close to your house. Will pick something up there so as not to lug. I'll probably pick up drinks unless there's something specific?

Just found out planned MTA weekend service changes will require me to take a shuttle bus and three trains to get to Cristin's place and back. I was really looking forward to meeting all of you but I'll have to wait for the next one. Enjoy! :-)

Ok, I'm back in! I realized I only have to take a shuttle bus to Atlantic Ave and then I can take the D train all the way up which isn't bad at all. So I'll be there, with my knitting and treats for all...yay! :-)

    • Cristin M.

Yay! The D train is a good quick ride, too!

Hi guys! I've just been informed that the 4 isn't running today. Boo! I think the fastest alternative would be to take the Harlem line Metronoth from Grand Central to Williams Bridge on a local train. You can buy a city ticket on weekends which makes it only $3.75 each way. We are a 12 minute walk from the Williams Bridge station.

We are also a 10 minute walk from the last stop on the D and a 15 minute walk from the Gun Hill Road stop on the 2. The 2 runs local though and will be a little slower to get here.

I stopped by a meetup earlier this yr and it was quite fun meeting all of you. Been trying to be a bit better with my attendance, haha.

This sounds like fun! I don't mind travelling to the Bronx as long as it's on a Friday or Saturday since it is quite a trek from Brooklyn, so this works for me. Would anyone mind if I brought a knitting project with me to work on while we watch? I like to knit while I watch TV but if others find it distracting I'll leave it at home. I love to bake so I'm happy to bribe everyone with baked goods if it makes you all more amenable to the idea. :-)

Please knit and I promise that I will be happily impressed. :)

I wish I wasn't hosting a Red Dwarf meetup on this day, so that I could come to this! :( I love series 1-4!

I can host! I hosted this exact thing once before. The only problem is that I am in the Bronx and people don't always want to get up there. But we have a huge comfortable space with a phenomenal view of Manhattan from our living room . :) I think 5 people came when I hosted and 16 people had RSVP'ed. I'm not sure if it was because we were in the Bronx that people didn't show, but we all had a lot of fun! And we could have a much larger limit this time (30 people?) since people couldn't come who wanted to and we definitely had the space.

We are on Gun Hill Road centrally located between the D, the 2, the 4, and the Williams Bridge stop on the MetroNorth. The D and the 4 are the closest options.

Yes, you should only expect 30% to 50% of "yes" RSVPs to show up.

I can offer a location - just not on the 16th because I'm hosting a Red Dwarf meetup. Y'all are welcome to come! :)

I decided to start Reno Motorcycle Riders Group because I wanted to be part of a group of people who enjoyed my passion... I was excited and nervous. Our group has grown by leaps and bounds. I never thought it would be this big.
