Our lovely Lyna from 350NYC has scored a monthly space for our coalition to meet at the NY Society for Ethical Culture on the 1st Wednesday of every month for the rest of this year (and then we will review how it's going at year's end)
That means: This coming Wednesday we are all going to meet again! Yahoo! This time, with an agenda in mind to work together as a coalition.
--What worked so we can keep it in out on the table for the future!
--What didn't work so we can learn from it and plan better for our next action?
O19: Protect our food wine and beer, the Global Fackdown is here!
-A group of us have been busting our buns planning this event! We would love to get everyone up to speed on the who, what, where, when and why's of the day so we can all make it kick more buns than it's already kicking! We are really excited for it!
O26: Protect our farms! Why the Black Dirt region is important to you. We are working with locals from Minisink, NY where the Dominion Compressor Station is bringing pain, sorrow and poison to the residents and our foodshed. We can use your help to jump in and make this event kick buns too! We just scored Eve Ensler (from Vagina Monologues fame) who connects our illnesses with Earth's illnesses to come and speak! We scored a permit! More good news to come by Wednesday's meeting.
O29/30: Anniversary of Superstorm Sandy -- Sandy brought home the realities of climate change to millions of New Yorkers, thousands of whom are still living with the storm's after effects. Let's not forget that she has sisters. On Wednesday, lets discuss ways we can work with local communities most impacted to build a demonstration that commemorates the anniversary and helps ensure that we rebuild just and sustainably.
Any other agenda items to add?
Wednesday 10/9 evening! Save Our Beer event with mark Rufalo at the Heartland Brewery in Union Sq! No Water? No Beer! OH NO!!!
Saturday 11/2: A conversation with our environmental-action-hero Tim DeChristopher! In conversation with Jessica Roff from Occupy the Pipeline/Occupy Sandy. Come learn, come share, come build community and make OUR MOVEMENT STRONGER!
