I'm a retired English/ESL college teacher. My house is filled with classic novels I keep meaning to reread, but rarely get around to. Instead, I find myself reading the Times and New Yorker.
I would prefer a coffee/tea shop, but I guess wine bar would be OK too.
Honestly, just one. I am a slow reader.
Hard to limit it to just one: Melville, Fitzgerald, Hawthorne, George Eliot, Jane Austen, Dostoyevsky, Kafka and Faulkner are my favorites.
Again very hard to say. Three are Middlemarch, The Great Gatsby and Moby Dick.
An excellent group. Very interesting discussion.

Hi! If you'd still like to meet in Brooklyn Bridge Park this afternoon, I'd love to meet you there. I too consider weather.com pretty reliable and per their hourly the threat of thunderstorms doesn't start till 4 p.m. Perhaps we can collect a few others who, like us, don't wish to change our plans to a restaurant in midtown. Please let me know either by posting a comment on my profile or in today's event's comments like you did before. -- Holly
Hi Elizabeth, welcome to Let's Explore NY's Neighborhoods! I hope to see you soon.
Hi Elizabeth. Welcome to the group !
Welcome to the group!
We have been singing lots of Beatles songs and other songs of the 50s and 60s. I am sure we can throw in some folk songs as well.
Hope to meet and sing with you soon.
Last week, two photography groups were in Roosevelt Island in the evening, the next one will be with Kew Gardens Hiking this Saturday at 6pm.
Hi Elizabeth, We might do Roosevelt Island again in late May or early June...when there's a good chance it will NOT rain.
Thanks Elizabeth for looking out for the group!
