Enjoy what may just be the greatest rock scramble in the region while getting the pulse going right from the start. Scrambling means that you'll be using your hands as well for parts of this, mostly all in the beginning .8 mile. This is not a beginner hike...It is definitely a workout with great inclines but even better views from each peak. We'll be taking the White trail which is the primary trail, up a series of peaks while stopping briefly to enjoy the views. From there we'll turn right onto the Blue trail. Shortly after joining the blue trail we'll do intervals of trail running/jogging at about 1/4 to 1/2 mile at a time. The blue trail brings us through ruins of where there was once buildings for farming etc. There's a few Tarzan style vines for anyone that is needing a photo op!
The blue trail brings us out approximately one mile down 9D with a power walk back to the cars. Bring enough water to stay hydrated and a sports drink to get the electrolytes back. Be able to have your hands free while scrambling..Camel pak or small backpack helps.
Another meetup group will have a large group starting near the same time. If nobody is taking the train we'll start sooner. If not, we'll head to the trail once the train arrives. Park either alongside the road or in the large lot on your left. We'll meet in the parking lot which is just near the Breakneck Ridge train stop. It's going to be warm out! Bring water, sunblock, the right footwear, and lets have some fun! Skip the gym Sunday.
