The Super Spartan obstacle race provides an 8+ mile battlefield of insane mud running with 15 or more obstacles to test your physical strength and mental resolve. This mud fest of a race will have many trials to push you to your limits that any man or woman with resolve can complete! This endurance race conists of mud runs, trails, and both mental and physical obstacles and challenges. The good news is that after you complete your painful journey, there will be live music and a catered meal to soothe your aching joints. Top 3 Males and top 3 Females at each Super Spartan qualify for a free entry into the Spartan Death Race.

At this point, I think you guys have figured out that I like to do mud runs... I'm not registered yet, and I'm posting this event to see if we'd be able to create a team for the race on Sat, Sept 24th... Its also in NYC, can't get any closer than that! I always say combining trail running with challenging obstacles is a lot more fun then running on a paved street or track. If I'm going to run, I figure I'll get muddy in style and have a blast while doing it! :P

Watch the video below to see if this is something you would do...

ABOUT SPARTAN RACE:

Spartan Race, the global leader in Obstacle Racing since 2005, was designed by seven insane ultra athletes and a Royal Marine. If you have tried trail races, mud runs, tough guy fun runs, or a warrior dash, it's time to step up to a brutal Spartan Race obstacle course. You can tackle a Spartan Sprint, a Super Spartan, maybe even attempt a brutal Spartan Beast, but only a few of you will have the heart to graduate up to our Death Race; the world championship of obstacle racing, and an endurance race like NO other. Are you unbreakable?

Why Spartan? Because the Spartans were tough as nails. Why race our obstacle course races? Because we all thrive under pressure, survival of the fittest. Our goal is simple... to get you off your couch, throw you in the mud & trails, and feed you one tough endurance event day that will be the adrenalin rush of your life.

An obstacle course race is designed to test your resilience, strength, stamina, quick decision making skills, and ability to laugh in the face of adversity. We want to own obstacle racing and our unique obstacle course trail races will demand every ounce of your strength, ingenuity, and animal instinct.

You will understand at the finish line...

@Young - Are you really doing this Young? LOL You do know you have to pay for it and you will get dirty... just saying.. :P

    August 31, 2011

  • Sheripha

OK, so it's official, i'm paid up.

    August 30, 2011

  • Sheripha

@Manny- When is the Rock Solid Mud Run, BTW?

    August 30, 2011

  • Sheripha

@Manny- Let me see how I make it through this race and I'll consider doing the Rock Solid Mud Run with you :).

The HOAGIES team is already registered for 12:30, just select another time and I'm sure when whoever handles the registration sees that you're signing up for the team, they'll put you in the same 12:30 heat. I find their website to be confusing and disorganized, but we'll get it all worked out.

    August 30, 2011

  • Manny

@Jhersson - At these races, you can usually just register for a close time to 12:30 and race with the group. They aren't that strict on making people run at a set time... so y'all can just ran together on race day or even do it twice!!

    August 30, 2011

  • Jhersson

i got it now but on available heats i dont see 1230 can i choose another time and still joint you for the 1230 heat

    August 30, 2011

  • Vanessa

FYI, for people who haven't registered yet, the race is almost 80% full at this point (August 29), so please register ASAP.

    August 29, 2011

  • Vanessa

As you're registering, if you look in the section "Personal & Team Info", at the bottom below "Available Heats-Solo/Team", there's form title "What's your TEAM NAME?". You must enter "HOAGIES" and double check that it's spelled exactly so, in all caps. I have the team registered for the 12:30 heat, so I don't know why it would ask you to pick the heat if you're joining an already registered team. Fill out your info and move on to the next step.

  • Jhersson

i went to the website, i click register and select team but after that theres no search option for teams, its just asking for my information, please help

    August 29, 2011

  • Vanessa

Jhersson, go on the Spartan website, hit the link for "events", search the races by date, (ours is 9/24 on staten island, the super Spartan), hit the "register now" link and then it should ask if you want to sign up as an individual or on a team and search for the team "HOAGIES". Let me know if you have trouble.

Hey guys, I just registered a team for the 12:30 heat. The team name is HOAGIES. Use the discount code "MEETUP20" to get a 20% discount off the fee. There is an additional charge of $9 for casualty insurance that we're required to pay. The grand total was $109.

@ALL - Vaness has agreed to host this event for our group.. Please contact her through the site, if you wish to register with her as a team.

  • Manny

I think that's actually a good option for a lot of people if they want to save money.. These events are pretty fun to volunteer at too, since its like a big party. I think I'll likely have to take a flight on Sat. @All - I would like to keep this event up for the group since we do have the 20% discount perk and its just a fun event. @Vanessa or Lionel - If y'all want to step up and host, please let me know.. Its pretty easy to make a team, or just book at the same time.

    August 4, 2011

  • Lionel H.

Hey manny on the home page it says you can race for free if you volunteer for one of the two days, thats a good option :)...lemme know when you get ur flights sorted.

    August 4, 2011

  • Manny

Not yet, I still gotta work out flight details since Im leaving for Belize that weekend.. If my flight leaves sunday, I'm in.. I still gotta find out and will update soon
