UN-HOARDING: Motivation & Manageable Goals

This free self-help meeting is held every week. We are gratified by the progress its participants are making. Hooray!
Location: The atrium is below street level. Descend stairs at waterfall on east side of Lexington Avenue between E 53rd & E 54th Streets. Enter glass doors ahead & proceed straight through hall to atrium.
Agenda:
- Status Reports: Sharing the current state of our individual battles with hoarding: Progress made, Stuff we hoard, Condition of various rooms, etc. Bring photos and/or floor-plan-sketches, if you're willing. Our Progress Tracking Worksheet facilitates this step & the following one.
- Goal Setting: Setting realistic, useful, individualized goals for the one week ahead until the following meetup. (eg. Resist Acquiring too much more stuff this week, Spend 5-15 minutes a day on uncluttering, Discard something daily, brief Buddy check-ins, etc.)
- Buddy System: Exchange contact info with another member, so we can help each other stay on task during the week ahead.
- Weeding: To kick-start the difficult work to be continued at home, we each bring along a little bit of our mess--a few papers or whatever. We spend the final 5-15 minutes of our meeting on sorting & weeding this stuff. We each try to discard something.
