This group, formed to read and discuss the works of Ibn Arabi, formed organically following a guided tour to Andalusia Spain by Stephen Hirtenstein of the Muhyiddin Ibn Arabi Society (http://www.ibnarabisociety.org/). We are primarily reading and discussing the Fusus al Hikam of Ibn Arabi, but add other works from time to time. From the Muhyiddin Ibn Arabi Society website: "Mystic, philosopher, poet, sage, Muhammad Ibn 'Arabi is one of the world's great spiritual teachers. Ibn 'Arabi was born in Murcia, Al-Andalus, in 1165 and his writings had an immense impact throughout the Islamic world and beyond. The universal ideas underlying his thought are of immediate relevance today." Ibn Arabi is also known in some circles as the 'Shaykh al Akbar', and is acknowledged as a universal Sufi master on the level of Mevlana Jelaladdin Rumi (and lived and travelled the Arabic empire just prior to Rumi).
Come join us if you like open discussions with friendly people who like to read and discuss intellectually and spiritual challenging material. We meet in the inclusive, generous spirit of Ibn Arabi, and are not proponents of any one religion or world view.
