I hope you all made it safely through the blizzard and maybe some of you grabbed your camera and captured some of the awesome snow scenery.
For those interested in some colorful images, cultural performances, and tasty food I recommend to check out several events during the Chinese New Year’s Celebration, starting tomorrow, February 10. This year is the year of the Snake.
Below is a short list of the major events for this Sunday and the following weekend. For further information, please visit this website:
February 10: Firecracker Ceremony, 11am – 3pm, Roosevelt Park (Manhattan)
February 16: Luna Parade in Queens, starts @ 11am, Union Street & 39th Ave
February 17: Luna Parade in Manhattan, starts @1pm, Mott Street/Hester Street
I’ve been to the Luna Parade in Manhattan before. It offers plenty of floats, dancers, and martial artists. As during every parade, it will be crowded. Therefore I’m not making this a meetup (we would lose each other after a few minutes), but I encourage you to go and see it. It’s a lot of fun and plenty to see. Buy some cheap firecrackers in Chinatown directly and start firing not just with your camera.
Enjoy the celebration and the food. :)
Have fun! Verena
