Williamsburg/Greenpoint Knit 1, Sip 2, asked if we would join them in this great charity project at the Manhattan Bible Church. All are welcome, and we have a no preaching guarantee.
As part of NYC's Love Kitchen* (http://nyclovekitchen.org/node/2), LuvStitches was established when the founder noticed that many of the people they served in their soup kitchen did not have hats and scarves during the cold winter months. LuvStitches teaches underprivileged single mothers how to knit, and they in turn are knitting hats and scarfs for some of the 250 needy families in their Inwood neighborhood. They can use our help.
Most people think of giving to the needy at Thanksgiving and through the winter holiday season. But we can help this group now by donating our expertise and excess yarn. On the 28th, we'll join them to sit and knit with them, teach members if they need help and deliver any yarn our members want to contribute. For the donation, as little or as much as you want to give is welcome.
If you cannot make it to the knit-up, but would like to donate yarn, we are working on a way to collect materials and have Knit 1, Sip 2 pick up the donations for us.
