sorry if this is a duplicate...was having 'computer issues'   and not sure if first try went out ....

we thought we'd try something a little light/small-ish for summer

got a pattern for a shrug/bolero.....

details on the red heart site are :

i actually found the yarn they recommend at michael's...!!

it's not the summer weight i was looking for, but i think it will be a really pretty, fun wrap for fall

challenges if you haven't done them before, or techniques to keep the experienced knitter interested
    -  knit from sleeve to sleeve ...a new approach
    - a simple lace pattern, to get acquainted with lace
    - picking up stitches

to the way i think (if that's grammatical), the pattern isn't written as clearly as possible.  however, i think we can decipher it together.   hoping the finished product  is exciting enough to be worth a little extra work...!!

the runner up choice was

which i am mentioning mostly because i DID find a summer-weight yarn (cotton bamboo) for this one... and therefore i am knitting both...!!

same techniques, with the little added, pattern for lace is written out and also in chart form, so if you want to start learning an easy chart, with 'training wheels'  this is a way to get started....

hope there's something here that whets your appetites !!!
