BSL..Wrong and Dangerous

From Wikipedia.org: "Though "Pit Bulls" are primarily the focus of BSL, there is no consensus on what a "Pit Bull" actually is. The term "Pit-Bull-Type-Dog" has been used to describe over ten very different breeds, including bulldogs, boxers, and bullmastiffs. Additionally, Rottweilers, though having shown a virtually equal propensity for dog attacks, are rarely included in dog bans or BSL. Dobermans, German Shepards, Great Danes, Huskies, Malamutes and Mastiff-Type Dogs also frequently injure people, but do not experience the same scrutiny as Bull Breeds."

What is wrong with BSL? Visit STOP BSL to read about the reasons why BSL does not work, and will never work. The idea of "Breed Specific Legislation" needs to be abolished. There are better ways of curbing dog attacks, bites, and fatalities - none of which pertain to banning a particular breed.

-Strengthening penalties for dangerous dog owners.
-Prevent violent criminals from owning animals.
-Take the dogs away from dogfighters.
-Regulate breeders more thoroughly.
-Offer low-cost (perhaps mandatory) obedience & training courses.
-Have stricter penalties for owners who violate leash laws.
