Please join us for our next meetup with Drew Conway, Ph.D. student at New York University in Political Science and expert on social networks. Drew also writes for his blog Zero Intelligence Agents and is a member of NYC Predictive Analytics.
Refreshments will be served starting at 6:30. The presentation will start promptly at 7:00pm.
Description: Social networking services generate a tremendous amount of relationship data on a near continuous basis. This network data can be exploited for any number of reasons, e.g., community detection, network evolution or key actors analysis, but as as analysts we require the tools to efficiently collect this data and separate the elements of interest. I will first provide a basic introduction to the methods of network analysis, then describe how to use a combination of tools can be used to extract, parse, and analyze online social data in near real-time. This discussion will be accompanied by a (hopefully successful) live demonstration.
