With the Stanford ML class ending soon, I thought it would be nice to have something to continue studying Machine Learning at a more advanced level. So, I just started a new meetup to study the book "Pattern Recognition and Machine Learning" by Christopher Bishop . It is a comprehensive overview of machine learning and I've seen the book recommended by many people working in the field. The meetup will begin in January and I'd like to try to arrange to meet once every 2 weeks.
At each meetup one or two of us would present the material from a chapter in the book. I'd also like to include some "homework". There are exercises at the end of each chapter and a solutions manual is online. So the presenters can select a few exercises for us all to work on and then we can either discuss solutions at the next meetup, time permitting, or through the mailing list. Videos from the meetups will also be posted online in case anyone has to miss one.
Also, we are currently without a space so if anyone is able to offer one please let me know.
Hope to see you there!
