10gen is offering a free online course called "M101P MongoDB for Developers (Python)" that walks you through how to use the MongoDB NoSQL database and Bottle web framework to build your own app. Dive into NoSQL and sign up for the class here: https://education.10gen.com/courses/10gen/M101P/2013_Spring/about
Lectures and homework for week 1 have already been posted. The sooner you start on them, the more likely you'll stay on track for the rest of the course so start now... WITH FRIENDS!
10gen (the company behind MongoDB and the folks who developed the course) has kindly offered to host a PyLadies study group for M101P in their NYC office and 10gen's Francesca Krihely will join us to talk all things MongoDB. Thanks 10gen and Francesca!!!
Our first meeting will take place on 1/31 (in the second week of the course) and we'll discuss the first two weeks of material. Watch the lectures first and bring your fab self (a computer wouldn't hurt either). Attempt the homework beforehand so that everybody will come with more questions and discussion points.
7:00 - 7:15pm Introductions, discuss new applications and issues
7:15 - 8:15pm Homework review
8:15 - 8:25pm Regroup
*NOTE: The goal of Pyladies is to encourage women to participate in the Python community. We welcome and encourage anyone who identifies as a woman to come to this event, and we are queer and trans friendly. Men are welcome as guests of women who are attending.*
