Stephen Jones

Senior Director

McGraw Hill Construction

BIM is dramatically impacting the project delivery process in major markets around the world, driving an increasing level of integration, productivity and transparency to all stages from conceptual design through to commissioning and operations.

Since 2007 McGraw Hill Construction has been leading the global industry in studying BIM trends among designers, builders and owners in the Americas, Europe and Australasia including adoption, implementation, ROI, benefits and investments, as well as gauging non-user objections and perspectives.

Steve Jones from McGraw Hill Construction has been the lead researcher and primary author of ten SmartMarket Reports about this dynamic transformation.

Steve will share some of the latest McGraw Hill research findings and show examples of how some leading firms are deploying BIM for powerful benefits.

About Steve:

At McGraw Hill Construction, Steve Jones focuses on how emerging technologies are transforming the construction industry. In addition to hundreds of speaking engagements globally and numerous articles in industry publications, he authors McGraw Hill’s SmartMarket Reports on technology, distributed to millions of readers worldwide and frequently cited as authoritative references. Steve also hosts the ENR FutureTech events that address how advanced technologies are shaping the future of our industry.

Steve has an active track record of leadership in many industry initiatives including the BuildingSMART Alliance, the BIMForum, Construction Users Roundtable, Alliance for Construction Excellence, and the TC Chan Center for Building Simulation and Energy Studies, and he has been a judge for the AIA TAP BIM Awards and the HOK BIM Awards.

Before joining McGraw Hill, Steve was Vice President of Primavera Systems (now part of Oracle), the global leader in project management software. Prior to that, Steve spent 19 years in creative and management roles with top design firms, most recently as a Principal and Board of Directors member with Burt Hill, one of the largest A/E firms in the US (now merged with Stantec).

Steve holds an MBA from the Wharton School of the University of Pennsylvania, and a BA from The Johns Hopkins University.

Stephen is an excellent presenter. With industry experience he has been there since the beginning.
Great Presentation showing how far the AEC industry had progressed, and continues to lead development of BIM with Revit.
Footnote: I was at Lockwood Green and Joint Ventured with Stephen's firm Burt Hill in the Mid 90's to double the delivery capacity of the USPS Post Deliver Facilities, (PDF). My team lead the effort using the early Triforma Bentley BIM Architecture to create Smart Model Prototypes from 20,000 sqft facilites to 1M sq.ft. This was 5 years prior to Revit's creation in 200. We worked extensively with Rich Taylor at Bentley to beta and develop the program. Rich is now Revit Architecture's Product Manager at Revit Development.
